-Less than a week until the tourney begins! The schedule is set, and everyone is raring to go. Get pumped!
-It's great to see that all the teams are playing so many exhibition games. It seems like every team is much more committed this year.
-NEWS: Comments will now have to be moderated before they will appear on the site. This will eliminate idiotic comments, and you won't have to make an account(God forbid THAT). The new commenting system is best for everyone. It won't clog up the comments with unnecessary profanity, and will still allow for easy and fast commenting. I try and give you freedom, and you embarrass the tournament and this blog. So this is what happens.
-Opening ceremonies are at 6:30 on Tuesday. Be there.
See you on Wednesday!

Anyone know of any friendly games in the next few days? Would be great to see a some teams play before the tourney...
I know Scotland/Ukraine are playing Sunday night at 8. Heard Norway is playing Sunday night sometime...
Laos v Portugal @ 8pm Sunday
i thik canada is playin portugal sunday at 8pm
Scotland are playing Serbia at 5 pm and at 9pm Scotland plays Ukraine, and at 10pm Serbia plays Greece. All games on Sunday
hey clock cleaner i thought the opening ceremonies were on tuesday not wednesday
Opening ceremonies are on Wed? It says Tuesday on the schedule.
Anyone Know anything about the winnipeg players that serbia is rumored to be bringing down?
Wow!! Portugal is good, playing two games @ 8. It's a good way to get lots of playing time for their whole bench. Smart move on the coaches part. I wonder if they will just switch from game to game to get a good rotation of players and a mix. You know.
This approval is ballz!!
Censorship at its worst. I'm reporting this to the human rights tribunal!!
And why is my word verification worf "rooffi" this computer is trying to slip something in my drink.
Whoops. Opening ceremonies are Tuesday. Hope everyone figures that out.
Serbia didn't bring guys from Winnipeg this time. They have few guys from S'toon and one guy from Serbia. They look decent this time according to games thatthey played so far.
serbia is still the same may be 5 guys who are real soccer players others are a fill in unless if they have players coming from winpegas rumor has it, but all in all no team is guranteed to win untill they finish playing a game so never know what they have for us in stock
Serbia looked very good in yesterday's game vs. Scotland. Very sound defensively!
Serbia played very well defensively. They must have blocked 10 shots at least in the first half.
serbia tied greece last night. 3-3. Greece had 1 own goal that made the difference.
wasn't an exciting game overall.
Serbia had two games that day and were 4 players short. That is what made the difference.
As WCP Cup is set to begin, I'd like to wish all participating teams, organizers and fans a great 3 weeks of Soccer! Enjoy and keep the spirit of sportsmanship and unity alive.
It should be noted that in the Scotland/Serbia game, they played with an extra player for almost 20 minutes of the second half, that no one noticed. They mentioned it at the end of the game. Would it have made a difference in the outcome? Not sure, but I don't think it would have been as high of a score if they were even strength.
Serbia had a full bench and substitues from what I saw. But no worries. The tourney has begun....and Serbia stands no chance of advancing.
great opening celemony, i thought the opening game was interesting and columbia if they did put it together could have came out with something coz ireland didnt look that as a threat from previous years but they still got it, their game against Canada is going to be interesting, from what i saw Canada can win this group forsure
I acn't believe they are charging $75 for a tournament pass, and $7 a day. I thought $55 last year was bad enough. I someone wanted to watch our 5 games, it'll cost $35, for a set of parents $70??? That's outrageous!! I sure would like to know where that money gets spent. Don't tell me it's for the field, because it would be sitting empty if not for this tourn.
well, RSA make so much money from it so we can't blame the organizers for this. The first year I believe RSA charged about $10,000 for the facility, then the 2nd year, they increased it to almost $35000 plus if you are not playing in the league, you pay RSA fees plus SSA fees for insurance. Whereas before you only pay SSA insurance. I think RSA people are thieves not the WCP organizers.
To say it would sit empty is a bit of a stretch. Keep in mind that RSA pays rent to Evraz Place. If this tournement doesn't happen, I'm sure that some teams (soccer, baseball, football, etc) would rent some of the time to train for outdoor (I have a few clinics for my club I'm running in the next couple weeks on the backfields). And if it's not used for soccer, Evraz Place could pull up the turf and run some trade shows or something in the Event Plex or something. I don't know if the rent is fair or a cash grab, but there is a cost to running that place/tourney...maintenance, insurance, etc. It's not like the money stops at the Organizers or the RSA.
What might be a good idea for the tourney is to have packages. Single day, Team pass (good for only days when Team Canada Mens play for example), or a full tourney pass.
good point and suggestions...
"Don't tell me it's for the field, because it would be sitting empty if not for this tourn".
My earlier comment was not meant as a stab at the WCP or it;s organizers. It is at whomever is setting the prices. I'm sure that none of this money will go to the new turf. When I say empty, I mean not full 7 days a week, for 3 weeks.
