Preview A Pool: Group C

Group C

Jamaica
Northern Ireland
Scotland
Canada
Ukraine

Group C will be a tough pool. All the teams have the ability to come out. Canada, again heavy underdogs, always seem to make it to the playoffs. Scotland has already tied Ukraine 1-1 in exhibition, and though that's not to say they can beat Ukraine, it at least shows they can hang with them. Northern Ireland, although arguably the weakest team is this pool, could upset a top team that overlooks them. Jamaica will be looking to prove that its recent player losses will not affect their team. Ukraine has shown good stuff in exhibition, and they look to prove they're a real contender.

Prediction: Ukraine, Jamaica, Scotland, Canada, Northern Ireland.
Ukraine is the strongest team of the group and should be the favorite to come out of the group. Jamaica, although losing some players, should be able to hold on Scotland. Canada isn't as good as they've been the past couple years, so I don't see them moving on to the playoffs this time. Northern Ireland may beat one or two teams, but they won't be able to make it out.

Game to Watch: Jamaica vs. Scotland. I think Ukraine has a very good chance to come out of this group, and I think the game between Jamaica and Scotland will decide which other team makes it out.

Canada lost the Pattersons. I think the question is now...will Canada lose to Northern Ireland by 5 goals or will they lose by more than 5?

Man group B got it easy, I'd say group D is the deadliest, then C then A then B. Ukraine will come outta this group along with I'd say Scotland. They've been doing well and their only loss was to Columbia, they played the shits and didn't have all their players. They bounced back against Scotland and Norway. Should be interesting!

Go Ukraine!!!!!!!!!!

It's tough to say because Jamaica has always done well. They should be able to beat Scotland even though they're missing a lot of good players. Look at last year, they didn't have some of those guys at the end anyway and they beat laos.

Ukraine and Scotland make it out.

Ukraine and Jamaica

You crazy.

i say depending on who jamaica has the can make it out... wit out shane oglive ,tyron wat ever his last name is the prime brothers justin manz might be a little bit tuff. kevin will pull some good players and make it out some how

ukraine will come out of the pool for sure.. ther fast and wat i seen from ec games they will come out flying

canda has no chance and same with north irland

in all honestly group C is the group of death. sure in D you have Laos and England, but greece and portugal are getting way to much credit for past results. both teams have gotten worse and columbia is a much like those teams. no suprise laos and england through.

in C mediocker teams like scotland canada and ukraine will cause tighter games with the 'new weaker' jamaica. if northern ireland can back up there talk its five mediocker teams in one pool, which will cause a very close run for those top two positions.

my opinion

Al Ligator said...

Hey...way to copy and paste.

I think you need to overlook past results and look at their team as it is right now. Jamaica has lost a bunch of their best players and their goalie too, while Scotland has a better team than last year. Scotland was tied with Jamaica in their pool last year, but Jamaica advanced because of plus/minus or something. If Jamaica is worse, I don't think they can go through.

There has to be some upsets though. Maybe Canada or N.I. will surprise everyone and make it out.

Scotland and kanada move on. not ukraine.

I think group C will be interestin to see who makes it out, even though the favorites are ukraine and jamaica, but the remaining teams canada, scotland and N.ireland make surprised everyone. let's looked at the fact. everyone expect ukraine to make it out last year and they didn't, jamaica always a contender but we'll see how they do with the lost of players, now scotland is a way better team than last year, Canada noboby really knows how they will play in this year cause nobody has seen then played, has anyone wonder why?.....so nobody will know how to play against them cause even though they lost the patterson's but the new players they got i would looked out....and last but not least is N.ireland the one's that u never think can make it out might leave u in the stand wondering how did they win....looked at laos they did it last year.....but that is just my opinion....hopefully i'll be an awesome tournament...can't wait

Jingo Canada is spelled with a "C" not a "K".. man that really grinds my gears.. you could have at least found a way to make the "k" backwards if you were looking to make fun on my other comment..

Al Ligator said...

Dude...so weak.

Anonymous said...

Ukraine and Scotland will advance here. Canada and Jamaica will not be able to pick up players close to the level their departed players were. Without exhibition game experience both will struggle with new rosters.

there's one for sure here...ukraine is coming out of this group.

Look out for Team Canada! They steal your players right before the tournament begins!

Anonymous said...

Canada is recruiting? Who? Has anyone been approached or poached? Please do go on...

Anonymous said...

Ben Wolfmueller left Germany to play with Canada.. you can blame Canada if you want to but if you really think about it, Ben is the one who decided to ditch last minute for a new team so who is really at fault? I don't agree with recruiting players from other teams this close to the tournament, but I highly doubt Canada hogtied Ben, forged his signature on the roster, and dragged him out to practice. I'm sure the fact that Canada has a lot of sponsorship, so it is very cheap or maybe even free to play on their team, also made playing for team Canada more appealing.

Anonymous said...

I doubt they did that simply to screw Eugene over. Ben is a pretty good player and Canada had a reason to believe they could get him to come play and they did get him. It wasn't right to do that but I doubt it was a personal attack on Eugene. You are likely a team Germany player who just took it a little too personally. Shit happens, so if you get a chance to play Ben and Canada, beat them.

Al Ligator said...

The only fact in this is thus:

1.Team Canada is underhanded for doing this no matter what way you look at it.

It's a lack of class on both the team's part, and ben wolfmueller's part. There's nothing anyone can do about it, so let's get on with tournament news.

We've got 5 days until the tournament begins. What day does everyone think will be the best to watch? Which will be the worst day to watch?

england vs laos day 1 is going 2 be good1

Anonymous said...

who gives a shit about them. Ukraine is going to dominate, period!

Anonymous said...

ukraine is not good because they lost roman

Anonymous said...

Don't need him at all. That's the truth.

Anonymous said...

nope u need him bad

Anonymous said...

roman's alright, but other anon is right...ukraine is fine without him. He would help, but not that much. That team is pretty good as it is.

Anonymous said...

They may have lost Roman but they picked up Danny Marchenko and Paul Scholan and some Yorkton guys and more..

Anonymous said...

Roman is good but honestly we will win without him! They have been playing strong in almost all exhibition games without most of their starting line.
Sure he would help, but we did get ferridge out of the too!
We shall see, come the 20th vs. NI.

Anonymous said...

know who's not good? Laos

Anonymous said...

I agree completely with Laos being overrated they just think they are awesome cause beat ROI. But I heard ROI has it in for them now.

Anonymous said...

you know what i can't wait for....next year when RULES are implemented that prohibit teams from picking up players NOT FROM THAT HERITAGE!!!! This tourney has gone from being a credible "World Cup" to a "Who can stack their team the most" cup. So brutal, although some teams very fun to watch.

Anonymous said...

that's a little too much. there needs to be limits, but c'mon...we don't have the world to choose from. As long as the teams are fairly even, I have no real problem. But when teams start to cut players that are actually of heritage for people that will help win, well, that ruins the tournament. It's gonna be awesome this year anyhow.

Austria should have beat Norway. Sort of.

Anonymous said...

you guys are losers who cares who plays for who, its a tourny in regina get a life

Anonymous said...

Well my last post was deleted so I will do this again, I told you guys Enlgand sucks and I told you Laos would kick their butts, so you all should just shut up and realize that England is the worst team to cheer for.

I think the title of pool of death just got transfered over to this pool. Jamaica has a win and tie and looks good (but not as good as last year), Scotland has a win and looks quite strong, NI shocked the world (meaning Regina) by tying the two heavily favoured squads, Ukraine is struggling to make something happen with a tie and a loss, and Canada with just one loss isn't out of it yet, but one loss in this pool can be a big problem it seems.

Anonymous said...

I vote for Pool C for the pool of death.

Jamaica and Scotland to go through.

I predict upsets peeps, it'll go down to the wire.

Anonymous said...

Ukraine should of stayed with there original keeper.......he is quicker and faster than that krauss guy......he has sat on the bench for 2 games and look what has happened.......they used him all through exhibition and they won something like 11 games and only lost one.........that will teach them to mess up a good thing

Anonymous said...

every player paid their dues so every player should get their playing time - we learned this coaching little league!! personally i think WCP should be set up with teams from regular soccer season. then wouldn't get complaints about "stacking" teams, and really - do you think every team is true nationality they represent with minimum "ireland or ukraine or whatever" players?? not likely!

Anonymous said...

Why would Ukraine keep their back up when they have Krause? Exhibition games mean nothing... Hardly anyone fields a full roster for those games and it is nowhere near as competitive as these games are now.

Anonymous said...

ukriane was smart by keeping to goalies......they have depth in all areas of the game...with that being said it is hard to understand why some of those skilled players can't seem to get a break....they hit about 4 or 5 posts last night...that game could have been way different....i hope to see them win there next 2 games and make that pool even better to watch

Anonymous said...

so does ukraine still have a chance?

Anonymous said...

i think they still do...if they win there last 2 games...they will be 2-1-1....jamaica is 1-1....n ireland is 2 ties and scotland is 1 win....canada is 1 loss...so it is still possible

Anonymous said...

go scotland! make the second round for the first time since the inaugaral year of the wcp cup!

Anonymous said...

i would rather see NI and Scotland make it through, just to be able to laugh at both Jamaica and Ukraine. those two teams should have easily made it out of this pool, and now it is anyones pool. As long as NI beats Canada and Scotland they make it through. They wont go far but it would be nice to see a team that isnt stacked do well for once. then maybe everyone would stop bitching about cheating and stacking!

Anonymous said...

ukraine= over rated
jamaica is hurting on def and of with out justin manz and the prime bros

Anonymous said...

Don't count out the mighty Ukraine just yet, we just want to make it interesting for everyone else. Why else would we hit 4 posts against Jamaica? Do you think we missed the net by accident? C'mon, we hit those posts on purpose. And the ref wanted to call the handball on Jamaica's second goal but we felt sorry for Jamaica and told the ref to ignore it.

Anonymous said...

you better hope NI loses or ties one of their games, otherwise you will be behind them in points. this pool is going to come down to the wire, one loss could be the end of a team!

Anonymous said...

i think it is safe to say that with the two toughest teams left to play in this pool, canada is out! Go NI they are just causing so much shit in this pool, it is nice to see close games.

Anonymous said...

went to watch team canada last night and i am not sure what hell i saw as team canada posted on their site replaced the older players with young fit players not sure some of the replacements can play soccer as for the dooley boys kirk was a no show tonite and shawn did nothing but bitch at his players par for the course there as for hugh being the best fit for the team (coach)he looked more like the ball boy maybe thats what they wanted!nobody seems to listen and total confussion at the back without last years centerback there to fill the void,i have them pegged not to win a game!!

Anonymous said...

Canada beats Jamaica, what the f**k? This pool is wide open!

Anonymous said...

It is screwed up that is for sure. If Scotland beats jamaica they are done, then it comes down to canada vs urkraine. If either of them win they advance but if they tie NI goes through. This is a messed up situation, who thought that Scotland would win the pool, jamaica be on the brink of elimination and NI have a chance of advancing. That all being said all jamaica has to do is win and they are in, but it is exciting none the less.

Anonymous said...

Jamaica played terrible last night! Canada actually showed up. Now Ukraine has a chance! Scotland will beat Jamaica easily. They ouplayed Ukraine but couldnt finish. They have aimproved since last year.

Anonymous said...

Ukraine does not deserve to go through. Too much hype and not enough goals. Anyone else happy that Paul Scholen left Scotland's shite offense of last year and cleared the way for good young players to score. Scotland is through and Scholen is left with a traitor tag

Anonymous said...

Pff! i love how everyone is saying that Jamaica is weak this year becuse there is no prime bros. and justin manz, k they are good players but not great! thats no excuse for them to have a "weaker" team. How bout you look at their young talent that have got on this team. Like Troy and the new player to join this year Andrew Banerjee. Man I would take those 2 together in the mid over the prime bros. And by the way Andrew B has been holdin it down in the midfield this year, settin up goals and scoring goals, YOU can see how is impact was missed when he sat out against canada, horrible gameplan or watever they were thinking. Troy was outta position all game and did not look comfortable and so was kevin.
-2nites game is win or go home for jamaica, troy and andrew in the middle and kevin up top, they will score goals.

Anonymous said...

hey what happened to the comment about the Dooley's...i thought we would see some great postings on this topic....where did i go??

Anonymous said...

Kevin and Andrew did score goals, but, not enough. Troy's goal should have counted because it went off another player, but, referees are always right.
It's too bad that more of the Jamaican Team didn't show up to play against Canada and Scotland. They do not deserve to move on. Better luck next year Reggae Boys!!!
ps, Andrew B.. was mvp for Jamaica.

team dooley
they got the best fit for coach as he also is mr uefa and he could not lead the to the next round!!was he the best choice for coach?? as for the team he could not get them to play this lovely game maybe a overhaul for this team is what they need, bring back some of they older guys they had they young players as kirk refers them as better and fitter as well more dedicated did not see this of the time as most of them looked lost out!!

Anonymous said...

I agree...i have always said experience over youth win....but dooley's want fit young players but look at most teams who went through had at least 3 or more masters on the team with lots of experience....then it is left up to coaching which again you can be a doctor but that does not mean you can treat a patient the same as the next....meaning he may have his uefa cert but can't coach a team. look at some of the greatest players out there who turn to coaching but can't coach, remember i said nothing about him being a great or even good player when he played. But now he tries to put a team around youth with out the heart and desire that many experienced or master players bring. He has no clue how to put a team together. When they won 2 years ago they had a mixture and it was the master players who brought the heart to win along with the experience besides Eugene putting it all together as usual.
