Men's Groups

The draw last night was exciting as always, and the big topic of discussion is, as usual, Group D. The group of death. It's a curse. And every single game will be very exciting in that group. It also brings up the discussion of further seeding...maybe seed the top 8 teams? Discuss it in the comments if you want.

Also note that commenting on this site has changed. Comments will be moderated by me before they are made public.

Moderated?? But how am I supposed to know who is a slut/whore and who's not?

Group C is by far the easiest.
FRANCE will get out of the group easily. It should be a battle for 2nd place. There isnt a clear cut dominant second team. That will make for good games. Go Italy!

I personally think it's ridiculous that Pools A, B and C for the most part will have their top 2 teams move out relitively untouched (especially Group A), yet in group D there will be 2 solid contenders that would normally have a shot at the 1/4 finals have to fight just to get the #4 spot in their pool.

I think seeding the top 8 would be a good idea to help balance things out. Heck, even the the top 12 to make it REALLY balanced. At least the way the draw worked out this year there are at least 2 solid teams in each pool to make it somewhat interesting. Would be nicer if there was some reasonable conpetition in the other pools to make it interesting.

Everyone in Group D needs to suck it up and not complain about the seeding. The only team who can legit complain is Canada because they were seeded and still got screwed, but from what I heard last night, they're going to just man-up and kick the crap out of everyone. Please don't have any whining from Germant/Ukraine/Jamaica/Poland. If you didn't want to end up in the group of death you should have taken care of business last year. This is how the tournament works and it will make for some great games.

seeding? This is football. These things don't exist.

The flaw with all of what you people are saying is that every year, players move team to team. Your seeding teams isn't going to work at all. It's still going to be very uneven. Sorry to burst your bubble lol. The seeding system flawed in this tournament also.

good players always enjoy playing the best so group d is like any other groups stop complaining and take care of yo biz, may be its to yo advantage that who ever comes out of that group will be a contender since they will have played solid ball to get out, its only ROI who will have any easy walk in to next round other teams have to fight there way out, gona be any interesting tournament

The most "even" way of doing a draw would be to force teams to submit a final roster before the draw date; at that point there can be a committee that ranks each club from 1- 4; 5-9; 10 - 24. During the draw one team from the top group and one team from the second group would be placed in each pool; final the final fourteen teams would be scattered throughout the pools randomly. That would limit the amount of "top" teams per group and give an "updated" ranking

To be honest, I'm quite happy that group D worked out the way it did. Now my team will know what its like to play a hard fought game, and making it out will only give my team more confidence.

Every year someone is always complaining! It is nice to see a competitive pool for once, instead of easy predictable pools. To me this shows you who ever comes out of Group D should be battle tested to take it all!

Oh come on now no one's even complaining yet and you're all getting rowdy bitching about people complaining. It is what it is and you have to beat everyone to win it all anyway. I'm super excited that every game will be a battle. Can't wait

Remember the time the blog needed user logins in order to comment. What a stupid idea that was!

I'd say from Group A the games to watch from each pool are Laos vs El Salvador (Obviously), from Group B ROI vs Norway, from Group C France vs Nigeria and from Group D Germany vs Poland

Canada will come out first, and Jamaica second. This is my prediction, however Germany could upset one of those teams, hard to predict that pool

Group D is up in the air but anything can happen. Like we all thought El Salvador would make it out of their group last year and they didn't. I think it would be Germanyz Jamaica, Canada, Poland fighting for the top two spots.

Group A - 1st Laos, 2nd El Salvador
Group B - 1st ROI, 2nd Norway
Group C - 1st France, 2nd Nigeria
Group D - 1st Germany, 2nd Canada

Greece vs France will be a great game to watch both physical teams, who knows may be Botswana would do what they did to Canada last yr, u know one of those things which happen in soccer, if Nigeria have improved from last yr am sure they have a shot of coming out 2 in their group, ROI and Norway should be a great game, heard Elsavadol loosing a couple of their best players which is not good, but Laos all the way baby, but there gona be a couple of up sets this time forsure not all the might teams are getting it their way this yr, and i would be wory about those new teams coz you dont know what to expect, and usually the 1st yr teams do well and then dont show up the next couple of yrs
