Preview A Pool: Group A

Ireland
Colombia
Chile
Botswana
Canada

Group A kicks us off with the defending champions. Ireland gets the pool of 5 this year, and not a very hard pool at that. New-look Canada and Chile will likely be their best opponents, while Colombia and Botswana will attempt to play the role of spoilers. Canada and Ireland are both physical teams, and it will be interesting to see if Canada can finally make it back to the playoffs. Chile has been playing together all team in the Men's League, and they are definitely no slouch either. They plan well as a team and will likely be battling Canada for the second spot in the group.

Prediction(in order of finish): Ireland, Chile, Canada, Colombia, Botswana.

Game to watch: Chile vs. Canada. This should determine the second spot.

Well seeing as how Canada sucked as last year and only managed to lose to Ireland by one goal and this year the team seems to be made up of the WCP Cosmos and Enter I think Canada will either take first or second for sure. Look for Chile to bail out early on, I say Botswana ties or beats Chile.

I wouldnt count chile out yet.

yeah if there's a way to delete posts on here that Chile one should deleted. There's no need for that garbage on here.

chile played in the league this season and didn't excel. They relied heavily on their 2 top players paco and spenser both of whom left for other teams

Anonymous said...

where did they go?

Anonymous said...

paco colombia and spencer el salvador

Botswana has a pretty solid group of players. They are going to be a sleeper in this group for sure.

The only thing Chile has going for them is their noisy ass fans. Hopefully all the teams in this pool silence that noisy bunch of clowns.

Who does botswana have, from what teams? Noisy fans are good they make the game more exciting.

Botswana has a bad ass keeper, Meshan....he'll be clutch no doubt.

Botswana had about half of the same guys from before. They added some new players who are quite good. The secret is that they have been playing together for some time now so the chemistry is much better. It will be tough for anyone to walk over this year. I pick them to finish second or third in this group.

who have they been playing against?

we need an up set in this group, ROI is over rated not to say they are not good but we need everyone to give them a run for their money, Canada if they put it together should come out on top of this group, then the irish, if chile dont give up as they always do they could come out second but will be cheering for Botswana as they are fun to watch same as Nigeria just fun teams to watch with their horns and drums, pls bring them out, dont know about colombia but heard they have some discent players, but most of them play individual games but who know wat they have for us, too bad they play ROI first so there wont be any contest as they wont be warm yet but we need an up set will be cheering for u

I agree...I don't think they will dominate this year. There are lts of capable teams this year to take the cup.

Noisy clowns? Those fans are a riot. Loved playing against Chile. That comment was made by a ROI player who only has 6 fans to play for

Anonymous said...

honestly, if i hear that goddamn CHI CHI CHI, LE LE LE chant the entire tournament I will lose my mind.

Anonymous said...

Haha, that's funny. CHI CHI CHI, LE LE LE, SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS ... feel free to continue the chant.

Anonymous said...

I hope the mens n womens make it through to the quarters so you do lose whatever mind you have left. Love those Chilean fans. Are the Afghans adopting the Saudi fans? I certainly hope so

Anonymous said...

chile had a bad indoor season but they will put it together once their fans come back they play hard with the noise in th background

Anonymous said...

Oh man those afghan fans are crazy, and i hear the saudi fans are gonna cheer for afghans this year as well.

Anonymous said...

Man whether the Chile chants suck or not, I wish all the teams had fans as passionate as that. not gonna lie, I feed off the crowds when I play. I don't care who they are cheering for, if it's noisy I know I have to step up my game to either make them happy or shut them up. LOVE rowdy fans!

are you all on CRACK thinking that Canada will upset ROI and take first or even any of the other teams taking a chance and grabbing second in this group?... You should be ashamed of yourselves for even thinking that!.. ROI has to be the favorite again.. how can they not be.. last four years what have they done?... oonly won three times... the only team i see upsetting them is El Salvador or France oh and wait........................................................... Greece might have a chance too.... hahahah

Anonymous said...

the only way greece can have a chance is i they were their skirts to the field, then ROI wont play their game will be watching the dances lol but canada may upset ROI if they put it together

The Canada ROI game will be close problem is it likely wont mean anything

You love roudy fans, and are swearing and causing trouble when their are kids around and parents watching. A bunch of drunk idiots behaving immaturely. Get a life dude.

ROI vs Canada should hve been the opening game of the tournament i dont know why the organising committe didnt see wat i see but all in all will be a great game, i think chile vs canada will be good too may be atleast the 1st half, havent seen Botswana but hard they improved too which is good to hear, colombia will be ok not expecting them to beat canada of ROI tho, but we will be there cheering for all so good luck guys

ROI were luck i thought columbia played well and could have cameout with a draw if they didnt make those little mistakes and change of goalie was a bad idea u cand bring in a guy from coed to play against premier players if u want to win u have to sacrifise and go for it, canada has a chance to win the group forsure

I have to laugh , I don't play in the tournament but am an avid fan of the games. Got to love all the people who hate on here and bash , especially the ROI team. Chances are this team won't time a 3rd time in a row. However give some respect where it is due this team year in and year out are good . They always start slow don't practice together really , half the team is from Saskatoon and wasn't there I heard. Hmm 5-1 , first half was a practice warm up , goalie change or not outcome wasn't in doubt , for someone to suggest it could of been a draw I laugh. In closing just play hard and have fun , it after all is a game ! No need to bash !!! Any teams as long as the soccer is entertaining

Dude, Ireland sucks man. They bairly got a win out of Columbia. Stupid Saskatoon duds. Columbia let Ireland have 3 late goals. Big deal. Not worthy of another wcp gold at all. France all the way.

Anonymous said...

Just give credit to ROI, they barely won and it was 5-1. I personally want them to lose too but I'm open minded to see they have most of the same players from last year. They can do it again but it gets tougher each year. We shud respect them but still support all the underdogs that come up against them. Regina, stupid Saskatoon (according to u) or the moon they are still called ROI.

Anonymous said...

To say that "Ireleand sucks" is a mistake. Every team who plays against Ireland has nothing to lose, and to say that ROI sucks is to take this advantage away. Three cups in four years is no samll feat. Give your head a shake.

Anonymous said...

yes Botswana killed chille am so happy, and comngrats for their first win in four years, well done we need another upset gona be cheering for these guys, hope they can do it against the big boys

Joe said...

Yes, That is awesome. Like I said befor, they mean business this year and they will be a challenge for a lot of teams this year including ROI.

What an entertaining game last night. Totally worth the $7. Botswana 3 - Chile 0. Chile gets shutout. LOL :) Amazing game to have watched. Botswana looked great the whole game. All the players right down to their goalie played amazing. Good luck to you guys. Your hard work has definately payed off. Doubt you guys will finish in last like this blog has predicted.
