Preview A Pool: Group B

El Salvador
Scotland
Germany
Afghanistan
Norway
Jamaica

While all the groups came out relatively even this year, Group B could be considered the hardest. El Salvador will be very strong this year, and looking to avenge their loss in the final last year. Germany has a stronger team this year, and though they often fall below expectations, this could be year they finally pull it together. Scotland is not the powerhouse they once were, with a completely new team this year. Afghanistan, another new team, will be tough to gauge. With so many good teams in this group, Afghanistan and Scotland could have a lot of fun spoiling the plans for some teams. Norway has also gotten better, and will also be looking to regain their former glory. Jamaica, always a good team, is the last team in the pool, and always a threat to make it out.
This group will be very interesting. El Salvador may be favored to take the group, but as we've seen before, that's anything but certain. But they will be hard to knock off. Once again, it should be a battle for that second spot.

Prediction(in order of finish): El Salvador, Germany, Norway, Jamaica, Afghanistan, Scotland.

Game To Watch: El Salvador vs. Germany. This game should bring out the best in two very skilled teams. It will showcase both teams' strengths and weaknesses.

Appearently Afghanistan's GK just dropped out on the weekend...could be in deep if they don't find a replacement ASAP! Especially up against the solid teams like Jamaica, El Salvador and Germany!

Jamaica spanked England tonight. Must have been about 7-1 (the one goal for England was a goal that Jamaica scored on themselves...not even a tipped shot, just a poor ball to put it out of play and put it top shelf on his own goal). Jamaica seemed to do it fairly effortlessly too...seemed like they weren't really pushing too much (poor touches quite a few times). Not really the best way to prep for a tourney playing a team like England (no disrespect to them).

Nigeria beat Germany. I think it was 3-2, but not positive...it was a close one. Nigeria seemed to move the ball around a lot and seemed to control most of the game. Germany had a short bench though, so who knows.

So no one seems to be talking about Scotland yet. Anyone seen them play any friendlies? Anyone know if they have any decent players? People are saying they are in a rebuilding year, but who do they have?

what happened to Jamaica, they are nolonger multicultural as before, wow, but thats god we will see how they perform this yr, seems like they are nolonger a threat as they were 2-3 yrs ago but they have the best goalie in the tournament so that will help them out, seems they picked up lots of youth players too but if they play hard could come out of this group but its unlikely, norway is nolonger a threat but still a good team, Es is most likely to win heard picked up the u o s goalie that would boost them, germany needs to put it together soon nolonger the power house they were b4 and with the injury ro ryan is a big blow but andrew is gona score goals for them and pedro may save them, my pick ES and norway/german/jamaica will fight for 2nd spot.

hahahaha i love everything about this last comment.

Best goalie in the tournament for jamaica? Sure bud. Have you ever seen soccer here?

Then the worst predictions ever. "I say El Salvador, then....I'm gonna have to go with one of the three remaining decent teams in the pool."

Real good insight you idiot.

HAHA pedro, that made me laugh.

yeah that dude that was commenting on Jamaica having the best GK in the tourney is WAY off. He isn't even the best in the pool form what I've seen (Germany's is far better). Unless the GK in the one friendly I saw was not their regular GK he's far from the best I've seen of the friendlies (not terrible, but FAR from status of the best in the tourney)!

Haven't seen ES play, but it sounds like they'll run away with this pool. Seen all the other teams play and 2nd in the pool is an absolute toss up. Norway/German/Jamaica didn't really do anything special in the friendlies I saw. a couple standout players, but but a lot of filler. Goes without saying but Afghan was a mess in their game. No clue about Scotland. Might suprise people, might crap the bed. Who knows.

I do believe the only teams that havent played a pre tourny game are... El Salvador and Ireland... correct me if im wrong.. but Reapeat of last year?...

jamaicas goalie wasnt playing last game but i still believe hes the best goalie, too bad the other players cant help him out, ES is still going to be a power house but not sure if they make the finals, but are capable of doing it, heard afghan abused England last nite not sure if true, what happened to endlish ppl this year, were did they go?

Jamaica's used to be unreal, not so much anymore. But i did hear the Jamaica picked up Korthius and that little guy from Winnipeg who is pretty ridiculous. Who knows if these pick ups are true. Only time will tell.

some games in this group are going to be really enntertaining, but its gona be a battle between 4 teams, ES, Jamaica, Germany and Norway. i think any of these 4 teams can win their group, but i think ES has players who can change games, same thing with \norway,and JAmaica, i dont know about germany dont know their players but their strikers can do some damages, so cant wait to see what happens, good luck all

According to their preparation game Norway looked awfull. I dont' whay you guys are so hot for them. I say ES Germany and Jamaica. And Afghanistan and Scotland might spoil somebody's dreams of glory.

norway just beat roi. bah

ROI was missing A LOT of guys...in fact they had fill in's from other teams. Would that have made a difference? Who knows?

Anonymous said...

holy shit man, Afghanistan could kick ass this year, they are beating every team with their benchwarmers while the pros are resting and avoiding injuries. I am scared for our reputation and being able to finish second again.

Anonymous said...

well from the one game I watched Afghanistan play, they must have been resting their "benchwarmers" along with their 'pros' too becuase they looked like a bunch of 6 year olds playing...one guy dribbles the ball and doesn't pass it and the rest follow the ball like a swarm of bees....no structure at all. It was an absolute mess in that game I saw.

Who knows what will happen in the tournement though...

Norway beat ROI... they are now the favourites!!!

I hope that last comment was a joke.
